Bock Brewed

I brewed my first bock today. I had been tossing up between a bock and a dopplebock. I ended up going for a regular bock that is right at the top of the range. However, the sg falls just below 1.072 so it is not a dopplebock. This is the first time I have done any type of multi rest mash and particularly a decoction in a long time. It was only a single decoction though.

The brew day could not have gone any smoother. Hit all my targets and didn’t really have any problems. Doing a decoction for the first time in ages was good. Reminded me how easy it is to do at the home brew level. I couldn’t imagine doing it on a commercial scale though. With the help of software it just makes it too easy. I have decided to use decoctions for al my multi rest mashes from now on. Thouh this won’t be too often give that most of my beers are pretty simple ales.

I can’t wait to drink this one. Lots of Munich malt. I even used 2.5kg dark Munich malt so it shold have a really intense Munich malt flavour.
