Australian IT – Labor plans porn block (, MARCH 21, 2006)

Once upon a time I could support the Australian Labor party but they are just becoming more irrelevant every time Beasley open his mouth. Please get rid of this idiot that makes the whole party look stupid. Now wonder Howard and the coalition can stay in power when this is what they are up against.

Thanks to Who Likes Monkeys? for bringing this to my attention.

My next two brews

I have a couple of brews planned. Hopefully I will get to brew them next weekend but realistically I will only get to do one of them. As mentioned in my previous post the first of these will be an American IPA. I want a really strong bitter beer and want to use up some malt so it will be a nice one to do that with. Recipe is:

The next brew will be an English best Bitter. A style I have not brewed before. However, it will get back to brewing more how I prefer to. Nice simple grain and hop bills. My porter normally has a fairly complex bill and the IPA does as I am trying to use up some malts but normally I like to keep it simple. It doesn’t get much simpler than this one either:

Brew Type: All Grain

Brew Stuff

Lots of updates since my last post. I have been busy doing some study related to a new job so brewing and blogging has taken a back seat. However, it appears that things are better than I thought they were but not as good as I hoped.

Turns out my stout and porter were not infected and I think the American Brown is OK too. The downside is that the porter is very ordinary and thus very disappointing as I was very happy with my last porter. The American brown I’m not sure about. Sometimes when I taste it I think it tastes great other times I think it tastes ordinary. I have just bottled it so I will find out in a week or two. The American pale is tasting very goo from the fermenter. The pale will be bottled this week.

My next brew in going to be an American IPA. I want another IPA and thought a nice big American style one would be nice. I’m not a big fan of the name of the style but people know what you mean if you use it. The plan is to brew it this weekend but I have not finished the recipe yet.

Brew Update

Well things have gotten crazy with work so I have not had the chance to bottle or brew. However, I have a long weekend this weekend so there is lots of study, bottling and hopefully brewing on the cards. I want to get a couple more ales down. I will do another American pale and possibly a dark ale of some description. My brewing schedule has changed significantly due to work increasing. Happy brewing.

If you are considering going to any Adelaide Fringe shows have a look at reviews on Who Likes Monkeys? and Popcentral. Specifically have a look at this review of Jess McKenzie. Her show was awful. Do not see it.

Brew Update

Things have been quiet on the brew front. I still have some suspicions that the infection may have gotten through to my two current brews. I am confident the pale is not infected but I’m not sure about the Brown though.

I am catching up with some other brewers on Saturday so will get them to taste thew brown along with a couple of other brews to see what they think. I do think the stout and porter are infected but others that have tasted them are not so sure. I will get a final verdict on Saturday. If everything seems ok then I have a lot of labelling and bottling to do.

All going well I will be brewing again next week. I have another stout and a blond ale planned. Hopefully I can brew those next week. However, if the infection has gotten through then it is time for more bleach soaking and the running of the kit.
